Bringing Global Collaboration and Communication into the Classroom
It’s a new adventure! Tenth graders are going to do a letter exchange with another school in USA by using their own email ePals accounts. The email system is designed for K->12 students use with safety features. Students will be able to safely connect and collaborate with other students from around the globe and create authentic learning experiences.
Mrs. Rawya Shatila shared an overview of the ePals Global Community and introduced the different ePals forums that are found on the website: Student Chat Forum, Book Club Forum, Featured Photo Gallery, Digital Storytelling, Smithsonian Student Exploration, and Media Gallery for uploading, sharing, and viewing student work. Tenth Graders will be able to read, post, and reply to topics of interest to them. Moreover, they will have the chance to research and share data with global peers.
Emergency Rescue Training
Every Monday afternoon, we get to enjoy our favorite period : Civil Defense.
Every period, we learn the procedures to rescue an injured person or an unconscious one. In fact, we are being trained by two professional civil defense officers.
It's extremely important to learn such procedures to rescue our loved ones if there is an emergency.
Finally, our school, Makassed College for Girls, is doing a great job to graduate strong, brave, well-behaved and well-trained women to improve our society.

طالبات الصف العاشر تساند المؤسسات الإنسانية
في جو ترفيهي ترفرف عليه هالات السرور والبركات، حضّرت طالبات الصفّ العاشر طعام الفطور بمعيّة معلمة اللغة العربيه، وتم بيعها لطالبات المدرسة بهدف دعم المؤسسات الإنسانية ( دار العجزة الإسلامية)، ففاحت روائح المطيّبات والموالح والحلويات.... صحتين.
مناظرة : الطلاق حل أو تعقيد
تحت عنوان الطلاق "حل أو تعقيد" أعدّت طالبات الحادي عشر(أ) مناظرة في ذلك، وشاركت فيها طالبات الصفّ العاشر، فساد جوٌّ من النقاش البنّاء والفكر الحر.

درس جديد من دروس الوفاء تحيه جمعية كشافة المقاصد
أقامت جمعية كشافة المقاصد احتفال استقبال رسمي في معهد التمريض التابع لجمعية المقاصد الخيرية الإسلامية لتهنئة المفوض العام للجمعية القائد نبيل بيضون على توليه رئاسة اتحاد كشاف لبنان ولتكريم القائد كمال سعيد فخر رئيس اتحاد كشاف لبنان الأسبق وبهذا التكريم تكون جمعية المقاصد تقدم درس جديد من دروس الوفاء فالتكريم جاء بعد انتهاء فترة ولايته لكي يؤكدوا أن التكريم لم يقصد منه أي مصلحة سوى الاعتراف بالجميل والأخوة والصداقة والمحبة المتبادلة بين الجمعية وبين القائد كمال ، فالمعروف أن التكريم يكون إما في فترة ولاية الشخص لمصلحة ما وإما بعد وفاته فلا يعلم بها ولا يتأثر بها إلا أهله.
الاحتفال كان برعاية القائد المهندس أمين محمد الداعوق رئيس جمعية المقاصد وحضور كل من رئيس اللجنة الكشفية العربية القائد يوسف خداج الأمين العام لاتحاد رواد الكشافة والمرشدات العرب الأمير يوسف دندن الوزير السابق تمام بك سلام أعضاء من الهيئة الإدارية لاتحاد كشاف لبنان وأعضاء من المفوضية العامة الجديدة للاتحاد برئاسة المفوض العام القائد المحامي حسن حمود مجلس الأمناء في جمعية المقاصد وفد من جمعية كشافة الجراح برئاسة رئيسها القائد عصام علي حسن ووفد من كشافة المهدي برئاسة المفوض العام للجمعية القائد الشيخ نزيه فياض ووفد آخر من جمعية الكشاف العربي برئاسة النائب بهاء عيتاني رئيس الجمعية ووفد من الكشاف المسلم في لبنان برئاسة القائد عمر سلطاني رئيس الجمعية والعديد من قادة المقاصد والعناصر الكشفية في الجمعية من مختلف المفوضيات.

Drama in Education
Makassed College for Girls is doing a project Called “Drama in Education" in order to use drama to support school education.
The students of Grade 8 are preparing a play based on a text written by the Yemeni author, Mohammad Abed El Wali.
This activity is supervised by Mrs. Donya Korayem and choreographer Miss Dana Jamoul.
Poetry Recitation
Students from grades 11 and 10 made a brilliant display of their poetic ambitions in a poetry recitation competition that was part of the annual Jawdat Haydar Poetry Recital Competition to be held at the UNESCO Palace in late April. Thirteen students from Makassed College for girls and Ali Bin Abi Taleb College took part in this competition, where students took turns reciting selected poems of the late Lebanese poet Haydar.
The English teachers at both schools were charged with the task of selecting a winner from each school to participate in the national contest. The selection was based on criteria that included voice and articulation, dramatic appropriateness and overall performance. All participants, however, received certificates of participation from the principal of Ali Bin Abi Taleb College where the competition was held.
The event was a good chance for students to gain a deeper appreciation of poetry through memorization and recitation. Such events help our youth to master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and hopefully inspire them to develop personal relationships with great classic and contemporary poetry.

عَلاقة مع الكِتاب لبّى الصف الثامن دعوة النادي الثقافي العربي إلى لقاء مع
الأديب عبدو وازن. هذا النشاط أردناه مشتركاً مع الصفّ ذاته في كلّيّة علي بن أبي طالب.
استقبلتنا مديرة النادي السيدة نرمين الخنسا بلطفها
المعهود، المناقشة مع الأديب كانت حول كتابه "الفتى الذي أبصر لون
الهواء". علّقت التلميذات على القصّة، واستمع الأديب لمداخلات الفتيات
ومعلّمتهنّ
في ختام اللقاء عبّر
الأستاذ وازن عن تقديره للتعليقات الموضوعيّة والأفكار الصائبة التي تقدّمن بها وأكّد
استمتاعه باللقاء ووعد أن يكون اللقاء القادم زيارة إلى كلّيّة البنات.

Watching Movies: The Way to Learn !
Watching movies is an incredible experience that takes you into a fictional world and teaches you all there is to know about life and human nature. In the English language classroom, this experience is be geared to serve the purpose of learning the language as well as living this immense experience. For these reasons, the students of grade 12, along with their English teachers and physics teacher, went to the cinema to watch “The Grey”.
“The Grey” is a movie set in Alaska, when oil drilling team struggle to survive after a plane crash strands them in the wild. Hunting the humans is a pack of wolves that sees them as intruders. A great movie!

Cooking Classes with English, Arabic, and Math
Cooking classes in our school have become a unique complement to many subjects so far.
Now, both teachers and students firmly believe that access to the kitchen enables them to keep in a constant, close, friendly touch and mutual understanding that creates or leads to fun, enthusiasm and motivation in daily studying, as it happened to the seventh-graders on Saturday, February 11, a sunny but very cold day.
The recipe was given to them in English, but the students in no time discussed and translated it into Arabic. They also had to use maths; for example, they had to change lb into grams or kg; oz to grams; ml or cl to l, etc., and to calculate for how many persons they had to cook. Unpronounceable difficult culinary terms, specific vocabulary, especially 'spices' ("spicy words'!!!) in English were easily transformed into a simple, nutritious dish that satisfied the tastes of all temporary 'cooks', who were divided into three teams.
It was an interesting experience for the girls to participate in a practical and exciting activity. It made no difference what language was used during that period. The result was amazing! We all had fun in communicating, working and eating together. The success was obvious: the two languages, native and foreign, had no limits or boundaries! Both were accepted, respected and enjoyed on that day in the school kitchen.
I'm sure the students of grade seven went happily home to share their joyful experience with their parents and other family members.
نتعلم من تلامذتنا
تم اجراء مباراة لأفضل "امتحان " يوضع من قبل طالباتنا في مادة التربية الوطنيه والتنشئة المدنيه في محور الانتخابات. وآتت النتائج مذهلة بحيث دمجت الطالبات اسلوب عدد من الاساتذة في وضع الامتحان ضمن منهج المادة.
وذلك للصف الثالث ثانوي بفرعيه وتم اختيار الامتحان الفائز كإمتحان شهري للطالبات. وكانت الفائزة الطالبه " فرح شعر" التي اختارت مقاله للوزير زياد بارود تعالج موضوع الانتخابات النيابيه.

تحت هذا العنوان تشارك كلية البنات في نشاطات النادي الثقافي العربي، آخرها كان اللقاء مع الأديبة "سلوى البنّا" يوم الإثنين 6/2 حول كتابها "حذاء صاحب السعادة".
اللقاء كان لطيفاً، استقبلتنا رئيسة النادي السيدة "نرمين الخنسا" بحرارة. وعرّفتنا بالكاتبة التي حاورتنا بصراحة وصدق وعفويّة، ثمّ جاء دور الأسئلة فطرحنا ما أوحت به قراءتنا للقصّة، وأعطينا رأينا في بعض المواقف.
الرئيس "الأستاذ أمين" فاجأنا بحضوره. تابع الندوة وكان مطّلعاً على نتاج الكاتبة. قدّم بعض الآراء. أثنى على اهتمامنا ونشاطنا، وعبّر عن عاطفته نحو كلّيّتنا.
هي تجربة لطيفة ومثقِّفة أن تتواصل مع كاتب مواجهة بعد أن تواصلنا معه على الورق.
